Ultrasonic Flow Meters

Clamp-on Flowmeters have seen vast improvements in accuracy, repeatability and usability through the implementation of cross-correlation techniques. EESIFLO’s Ultrasonic Flowmeters use the most advanced digital signal processing algorithms and modern day electronics/sensors – which in turn has meant greater confidence in our products.

If an operator has the right equipment to measure flow rates from the outside of a pipe, then their job is so much easier. This work becomes troublesome when the user has to measure flow in multiple locations with inferior ultrasonic technology. EESIFLO sounds like “EASY FLOW” and it is true that our company has helped thousands of operators and technicians get the flow readings they need without having to fumble about with transducers and poorly designed ultrasonic flowmeters

We also understand that some customers only need to measure the flow in one or two pipes for a day or two. If there is no budget to buy our flowmeters then consider our flow meter rental options

Over 20 years ago our motto was

"Any Liquid, Any Pipe - Any Time!"

Today, this motto is still true! Most of the liquid flow meter applications that our clients face can be solved by either using our Portalok or Sonalok range of clamp-on flowmeters.

What is the Portalok 7S?

This flowmeter is probably the best piece of equipment that a technician can use in the field, especially if flow measurements need to be performed regularly and in multiple locations. It is very frustrating for any user to have to travel some distance to obtain  some flow data, only to find out that the flowmeter does not work. The Portalok has become very popular with users who already know that the flow measurement is accurate but also relatively easy to obtain. The unit is battery-operated and fully weather-proof with the ability to store flow data and retrieve it using a computer. In addition, the flowmeter comes with a 4-20 mA output as standard. Normally, a single pair of flow transducers will cover most pipe ranges from 2 inches and above.

What type of liquids can the Ultrasonic Flowmeter measure?

Basically, any type of liquid! Most users of clamp-on flowmeters are familiar with conducting water flow measurements in pipes. Yes, this is also a common application for our flowmeters but this is not a limitation. Our meters have also helped end users, contractors and consultants retrieve the flow data they need from a host of other liquids e.g.

  • Wastewater
  • Deionized Water
  • Liquid Slurries
  • Sludge
  • Chemicals

Clamp-on Flowmeter Popularity

Clamp on flowmeters are becoming more and more popular due to the fact that they are easy to install since it is not necessary to cut a pipe or stop a process to obtain accurate flow measurements.  With the appropriate  Reynolds correction they are able to measure both water based liquids and oil based fluids.

Simple Flowmeter Questionnaire

  • What are the pipe sizes of the liquids that are going to be measured?
  • What is the minimum and maximum process temperature of the application?
  • Do you require a portable battery operated unit or a permanent fixed flow monitor powered by mains?
  • What are the output requirements? E.g. analog, digital, pulse?
  • What is the minimum and maximum flow velocity?
  • Is the pipe always filled with liquid?
  • How quickly do you need a flowmeter on site?

More About Our Clamp-On Flowmeters

What types do we offer?

  • Select the type of flowmeter for your application. Either mains powered 110/220 VAC or 24 VDC with analogue and pulse outputs or battery operated units.

What makes the flow meter installation easy?

  • To get meaningful flow readings only requires some basic information on the liquid and the pipe such as

    • Outer Diameter
    • Pipe Wall thickness
    • Fluid Temperature
    • Type of Fluid (normally water based or oil based)
    • Units of measurement e.g. GPM / LPM etc

With this information, the meter will calculate the distance/spacing between the sensors which are clamped on to the pipe wall using a tension strap

How long will it take to perform a flow measurement?

  • If the meters are already powered up, it can take only minutes.

Can the meters measure totalised flow and bi-directional flow ?

  • The meters have a built in digital display counter to report both flow rate and total and can measure both positive and negative flow rates

Is data logging and retrieval available?

  • The meters can be set to log flow and the information retrieved and reported in an Excel file.

What are typical applications for the Portalok /Sonalok Flowmeters?

  • Power Plant Water
  • HVAC Airconditioning
  • Municipal Water
  • Balancing and checking any liquid flow system
  • Chemicals
  • Semiconductor and Electronic Plants
  • Pharmaceutical Applications
  • Fire Pump Checking
  • Oil Consumption
